Percussion Workshops


Musical Director Seán Hooper.


Seán is a professional percussionist who works as a full time percussion teacher with Music Cornwall, Cornwall’s music service.


Seán is the founder and musical director of the youth samba band White Noise, which has been very influential in the explosion of samba music in Cornish Schools.


His textbook ‘Samba For Schools’ has recently been published by Southern Percussion.


Seán has studied authentic Samba rhythms through workshops given by luminaries such as Fred Turuka, Anthony Watt, Ravin Jayasura and Simon Preston.


As a percussion teacher he is able to teach any samba percussionist to a high level of proficiency whatever their level of experience.


Seán is also available if you are looking for samba workshops for a festival, school or corporate event.



Percussion Class Details


VENUE: The Scout Hut, Boscawen Park, Truro.


(Under 16’s are welcome to join White Noise, Wednesday’s 6:00-7:30pm, term time only. Fee payable to County Council, details from Seán. Venue as above.)


The band rehearses from 7:30-9:00p.m on Wednesdays at the Scout Hut.

There is a £15 a year membership fee then a £1 weekly fee to cover costs.


All levels welcome, instruments can be provided.
